Equipment plan and opening planning of the new Sant Joan de Déu surgical block

In 2018, work began on the third floor of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu building to build the new surgical block. The new service of the Maternity and Children's Hospital has an area of 2,200 m2, 1,400 m2 more than the 800 m2 of the previous one. It has an endowment of 8 operating theatres, to accommodate 4 high-tech operating theaters for the specialties of neurosurgery, cardiovascular, orthopedic surgery and traumatology and surgery with high image performance, and 4 standard operating theatres. The resuscitation unit, URPA, consists of 2 critical boxes, 2 intermediate boxes and 6 standard beds. It also has an associated sterilization service.

The new surgical block offers the possibility to cover the most complex surgeries, achieve greater precision and perform minimally invasive techniques with higher efficiency and lower associated recovery time. In addition, they are equipped with the highest technology for the acquisition and management of surgical images. The biomedical equipment is equipped with the latest technology incorporating a 1.5T magnetic resonance, a portable TAC and a hybrid arc.
